How Often Should I have My Hair Cut?A haircut isn’t just about changing your style or losing length, it also makes it more manageable, reduces frizz and promotes healthy growth. Haircuts remove breakage at the tips, which can make your hair appear thinner, and as a result, shorter. If split ends are allowed to persist, they can travel up the hair shaft and cause serious damage that could require a drastic cut to salvage. If you are in the process of growing your hair out, regular trims will keep your growth healthy. We recommend having haircuts every 6-8 weeks for longer styles and 4-6 weeks for shorter styles.
-
Should I Wash My Hair Before Going To The Salon? It’s not necessary to have freshly washed hair, but if you style your hair as you usually would then it gives your hairdresser an idea of how you like your hair to be. For instance, if you always leave it to dry naturally, then it doesn’t make sense to turn up with it heat styled.
-
Why Should I Buy Prescriptive Haircare? We cannot stress enough how important it is to use professional and prescriptive hair care recommended by your hairstylist. Not only will it make your hair feel amazing, but it will also support your hairstyle and give you confidence knowing that your colour will last.
-
What Should I Ask For At The Salon? Our hairdressers are there to make you feel comfortable and ensure you leave the salon happy. It’s always a good idea to take images with you to the salon of hairstyles you love, a picture speaks a thousand words. It helps the stylist get an idea of what you want and then you can discuss what will realistically work on your own hair.

Do Salon Treatments Really Work?Absolutely. Our salon treatments are professional formulas that give both instant and long-lasting results. Your hairdresser will recommend a treatment to you if your hair needs it.

What Is Kerastase Fusio Dose?A bespoke treatment, Fusio Dose tackles two hair concerns - the first being one your hairdresser has diagnosed during the consultation and the other being something you would like to address - perhaps more density or less frizz. The booster and concentrate are then mixed at the back wash and applied. What’s great is that the treatment takes just 5 minutes and offers both instant and long-lasting results.

What Salon Treatment Is Best For Damaged Hair?Rather than a one size fits all solution, at Shine our hairdressers will diagnose your hair, so they know exactly what your strands need. Premiere formulated for damaged hair to recreate 99% of hair’s original strength, infused with citric acid to eliminate calcium build up and glycine to deeply nourish, Première transforms your hair from within for stronger, shinier, and smoother strands. Metal Detox is performed as a pre colour treatment to neutralize any metals in the hair to brighten the hair and provide a safe canvas to colour, with 87% less breakage. Absolut Repair Molecular is our sulphate free, deep molecular repairing treatment that eliminates signs of damage and restores hair’s natural elasticity, within the first use. Fusio Dose is a great option too for mildly damaged locks.

Is Not Washing Your Hair Good For It?Excessive time without washing your hair is not ideal for scalp health. Scalp health is crucial to overall hair health and integrity. Not washing frequently can cause buildups which can cause lots of dryness, itchiness and irritation. On top of that it smells and has no suppleness or Shine!
